As I write this, it’s New Years Eve. I do hope you’ve all had a good Christmas and have managed to meet with family and friends.
We had a great turnout for our annual Christmas Dinner at the Inn on the Lake – it’s been a tough year for Leigh and his staff, so it’s nice to have been able to support them.
Hopefully we’ll get a chance to see many of you at the New Years Day Cobweb Duster Run to the Horse and Groom at Clapham, Bedford. We’ve also got a significant group going to Stony Stratford on New Years Day.
Don’t forget that Roger Garnham has set up a calendar spreadsheet showing potential events through to the end of 2022, Ian has added it to the website.
We’re trying to show a range of possible events for the year to be supplemented by more spontaneous events like country house visits, curry nights, static shows, breakfast meets, quiz nights, dinner outings.
Wishing you a Happy New Year and hope to see you all at a Club Night soon.

It’s the end of October and many of you have tucked your cars up for the winter, so now is a good time to think about 2022.
Roger Garnham has set up a calendar spreadsheet showing potential events through to the end of 2022, Ian has added it to the website. We’re trying to show a range of possible events for the year to be supplemented by more spontaneous events like country house visits, curry nights, static shows, breakfast meets, quiz nights, dinner outings etc.
We welcomed some potential new members. Remy Dubois has a 1970 MGB GT in blaze. Phil and Jackie Walker have three MGs – an MGB GT and two ZRs. Phil is a regular in the MGOC Race series. Also we will have Steve Edmonds coming to club night with his MGB.
Thanks to everyone who has paid their subs. We are now back in a financially solid position again. If you’ve still to pay your subs, please arrange payment to Ian.

January 1st 2022 – Annual Cobweb Duster. We are booked to go to the Horse and Groom at Clapham (thanks again to Martin & Jackie) on New Years Day. The plan is to meet at the Inn on the Lake and have a 30-45 minute cross country drive for lunch and a relaxed chat with friends.
Geoff & Liz and Yvonne & I did the Kimber run from the National Memorial Arboretum, Litchfield, the event organised by the MGOC and billed as the birthday run.
We both travelled up on Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately Geoff & Liz could not get booked into our Premier Inn but think their one was a bit better, although ours was only a couple of miles from the start. We used the A5, A51 and finally A38, a good motoring road, especially from MK to Hinckley.
The weather was dry and good not cold, so tops down for a very good 86 mile run, with a very good tulip map to follow and ended back at the Arboretum.
We met a couple of fellow MGB roadster owners, Emma & Neil from Hereford in Emma’s Old English white and Herman & Ann from Coventry in a green “B”. We chatted and I gave then a couple of our cards in case we can meet up again. Ann mentioned a run the “Lincoln Imp” which we could consider.
We stayed the Sunday night and left after breakfast, only to bump into Geoff & Liz as we entered MK, what a coincidence!!
Dear Roger
Didn’t we have a lovely time.
Commiserations to all those who suffered from Covid and petrol scares and couldn’t join us because this last weekend at the Kop has to have been one of the best yet.
The weather started off misty but cleared to a brilliant summer blue. We nearly equalled the record for spectators on the Saturday and then raced past it on a very warm Sunday.
We had a record number of bikes to celebrate our 110th anniversary of bikes running the hill and the new for 2021 features did well. The helicopter rides across the Chiltern hills were a sell-out, the Heritage Skills Centre kicked off our drive to encourage new apprentices in engineering and the exotic park had some delicious exhibits. Our thanks to McLaren and Aston Martin Racing for sending cars and to Triumph and BMW for providing some very exciting bikes for our special guests to ride.
A huge thank you to all our guests. To Sammy Miller who was a star as always, this year riding his Rennsport BMW and Gilera (and who will ever forget him volunteering to ride the soapbox in a giant snail!). To Allan Millyard who turned up en famille along with the fabulous, earth trembling Flying Millyard and special thanks from all the team to the Queen of bike racing, Maria Costello – what a shame the Road Traffic Act we adhere to didn’t allow us to see her run her Hagerty sponsored racing sidecar outfit up the hill!
In the hour between all the many and various special vehicles running the hill on the Saturday, the Alvis Owner Club excelled themselves putting on a magnificent lunchtime cavalcade. The Sunday lunchtime was dedicated to the 60th E Type Anniversary. What a great line up, led by some truly historically important Jaguars organised by one of the Entrants Team’s most cherished patrons, Dick Skipworth.
But the biggest thank you must go to all of you for coming from far and wide in your hundreds to be with us to make this one of the largest and most spectacular and relaxed meetings of classic, veteran, and vintage vehicles in the country. You are the reason over 16,000 people come to the Kop Hill Climb Festival. You are the reason we have become the biggest raiser of charitable monies in the three counties to help local good causes.
We’ll soon be posting on the website a selection of the highlights of the weekend, so look out for that. Don’t forget, we’ll be opening up for your 2022 entries in April for what will be the 110th anniversary of cars taking to the hill. From all of us on the team, take care and see you there.
Kop Hill Climb.

Thanks to Stephen who told us about the Oakley Classic Car Show. It was excellent and definitely one for next years calendar
It was nice to welcome some potential new members. Remy Dubois has a 1970 MGB GT in blaze. Phil and Jackie Walker have three MGs – an MGB GT and two ZRs. Phil is a regular in the MGOC Race series.
Best wishes are sent to Terry who has had an eye op, and to Tim who has been suffering with flu.
Please check out our website. Ian has posted a very useful article about E10 fuel – it should answer all your concerns.
I have included (above) a link to our website and would encourage you to use it.

Hi All,
Latest post for the Enjoying MG including Club Update
The end of September is the time when most classic car owners start putting their cars away for the winter, with only a few hardy souls braving the winter months. This is also the time of year when we put together our club
plans for the new year.
Thank you to everyone who sent me their helpful thoughts on how they’d like the club to continue to progress. There was a positive reaction to having a wider committee supporting Ian and myself in running the club, even a few volunteers! Roger Garnham, Ian and Yvonne Whipp and myself have had an initial meeting and are hoping to co-opt a few more members as well. If you’d like to be involved, please let us know.
Ideas included having a technical club member, maintaining a register of specialist tools, components and suppliers, supporting members projects. Having a buddy system for new members to help them to settle in quickly. Set up the calendar with provisional dates for the year so they can be put into diaries. There was a refreshing discussion about events with the calendar arranged to summarise Club Nights. Monthly Runs, Static Shows, MGOC Runs, International events as well as other events like Film Shows, Talks, Museum Visits etc. There was interest in weekday as well as weekend events, especially to National Trust or English Heritage sites. There was interest in
3-4 day tours to various parts of the country.
Roger G has agreed to start collating everyone’s ideas into our annual calendar.
So to finish off the year we have a group of people travelling to the NEC Classic Motor Show in November.
Our December Club Night will include our annual Christmas Dinner, and Martin Bilham has once again kindly agreed to arrange our New Years Day Cobweb Duster.
