MK MGOC 06 11 19 2020 Calendar
We’re coming to the end of another busy and successful year for the club, so it was great to see so many of you at the October Club Night.
Yvonne has taken delivery of her brand new MG3 the first ‘modern’ MG owned by a club member.
We had our final summer Mid Month Run to a country pub for dinner travelling to the Crown at Gransborough. It was a pleasant drive and a great way to wind up the season. Again thanks to Yvonne for a great suggestion. We will restart them in May/June next year.
COMING UP>>>>
The event season is starting to wind down now although we have quite a few members with tickets for the final Bicester Scramble of the year on the 6th. However, as I write, the weather forecast looks like rain all day, so I think the turnout will be low.
November 6th Club Night at the Inn on the Lake and AGM.
– Please, Please, Please, make every effort to come along. It’s the most important meeting of the year where committee members get to know what events you’d like to do. It is your club and we need your input. The AGM part of the meeting will only take about 30-40 minutes, then you can get back to having a chat and catch up.
– Committee We really need more members to take on roles on the committee, helping to organise events etc. I would really like to stand down as Club Secretary. I have run the club (with Ians excellent support) for many years now and am struggling to give the club the attention it needs. Please will you consider this carefully and let us know if you can help in any way, it is not onerous.
August had a number of significant events for the club.
The first was Cars at the Claydons. This was a two day event held at Claydon House. Mike organised a run for thirty cars, finishing the lovely National Trust property. Saturdays car show was a bit quiet, but the weather was fine on Sunday and there was a bigger turnout. Thank you to everyone who acted as marshals over the two days, you were brilliant, as always.
We had 18 people attend the mid month run to the Plough at Simpson. A good evening was had by all.
Members also attended the Rufus Centre event, the MGCC Summer Picnic, the 95th MG anniversary at Beaulieu

Text for Enjoying MG:
August started with a bang when we had around 30 members attend the club night on the 7th, Terry brought some “B” spare parts as he was clearing his garage, which were quickly snapped up. Michael & Alison gave a briefing to
those who would be marshals at Claydon and Ian took orders for club polo’s
and sweaters.
The 18th was “Cars To The Claydons” which saw entrants start from Toddington for a scenic run to Claydon House, with all monies going to the Little Lives charity.
The morning at Claydon was very wet until about 10am then it became a very pleasant and warm day. The setting at Claydon House was delightful as the cars parked in the gardens along with the cars from the Lotus club and
vintage cars and tractors. Lady Alexandra Verney and her PA Tory were very grateful for our support and made us welcome. Sunday was a great success for all.
On the 22nd we had our Mid week run out to the Plough at Simpson, a newly refurbished pub. We had 18 members and partners attended, with 15 dining, the food was very good and there was a good selection of choices on the menu. I think we may visit the Plough again in the future.
We’ve still got a number of events in the pipeline to discuss at our 4th September club night. There is the Wings and Wheels event at the IBCC in Lincolnshire on the 15th September. A possible Mid Month Run on the 19th
September, Bicester Heritage Scramble on 6th October, Haynes Museum 12/13th October.
If we have time we could add in a scenic tour before the end of the summer. Safe driving.
Cheers Brian and Ian
Evening All,
On the 18th we had 10 cars join us for this yearly event, the weather was a bit damp first thing but improved and during the day got quite warm but got a bit windy later on.
We had a good selection of cars and a couple strays, with Terry’s Porche & Roger’s Jaguar but as a club we were not too fussy. Included are a couple of pictures, with one of Ken holding the gazebo down.
Every one enjoyed the day and events such as the re-enactment groups and a Hurricane fly past, the number of car groups and variety of vehicles was brilliant and nice to see.
Included are a couple of pictures, with one of Ken holding the gazebo down.
We had eleven MGs at our July club night. The car park looked impressive!
It has been busy with members attending in June: – The Bicester Scramble, the New Lowndes Arms at Whaddon, the MGB Register Shelsley Walsh event, The Cotswold Caper, the Spa Summer Classic and four members off on
their Grumpy Tour of Europe.
In July we had half a dozen cars to go to the Swan at Bromham – it’s a nice place, thanks Jackie for the suggestion. 11
cars went to the Kimbolton Country Fayre. Some are heading to the Silverstone Classic whilst some are off to the Parson Drove Custom and Classic Car Bike and Trike Show.
August 4th
MGCC MGB Register Classic Car Summer Picnic at Millets Farm Centre Frilford.
Stephen is going to the Classic Car show and Autojumble at the Rufus Centre at Flitwick.
August 7th is our Club Night at the Inn on the Lake. August 22nd Summer Mid Month Run to a country pub for dinner. The plan is to use the newly refurbished Plough at Simpson.
August 18th NEW EVENT – Organised by Mike and Alison. Cars at the Claydons. This will be a beautiful tour of about 70-80 miles through the countryside, ending at Claydon House – Monies raised from the tour will go
to the Little Lives Charity. Thanks everyone who has volunteered to marshal.
at Cuttleslowe Park, North Oxford. August 25th Little Gransden Air & Car Show. 300 plus cars and a 3.5 hour flying display.
August 26th Cowley Classic – this event has been recommended.
We are still hoping to arrange a run to the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincolnshire
Enjoying MG:
It’s excellent to see so many events proposed and planned. During May we had 8 people attend the “Rose of the Shires”, taking us through beautiful Northamptonshire.
Ian and Yvonne & Martin & Jackie attended the “Moor to the Sea”, near Exeter and the “New Forest Run” we had Geoff/Liz, Dave/Sue & Yvonne/Ian.
We also had an intrepid group led by Ron and Daran that went to the Spa Classic in the Belgian Ardennes. The cars
behaved and everyone everyone enjoyed the event. Nurburgring next year?
In June we have people attending the Cotswold Caper, always a great event.
We plan to start our Summer Mid month runs in June, by the time your read this we will have been to the Lowndes Arms at Whaddon – scene of the Hotel Inspector! There is another large group planning to head to the June Bicester
Scramble, buy your tickets on line – they sell out fast! If you’re a member of the MGB Register you’ll know about the event at Shelsley Walsh.
At least ten cars are booked to go to the Kimbolton Country Fayre in July, speak to Martin to get your entry wristbands and to book a plot. Anyone going to the Silverstone Classic this year? We’ll head to the Swan at Bromham for our July Mid Month Run – thanks to Jackie for the suggestion.
August will see us go to the newly refurbished Plough at Simpson. The MGB Register Classic Car Summer Picnic will be at at Millets Farm Centre Frilford. Stephen recommends the August 4th Classic Car show at the Rufus Centre at Flitwick, tickets £4 and need to be bought in advance.
There is a NEW EVENT on August 18th – Organised by Mike and Alison. Classic Car event at Claydon House.
Marshals will be needed but why not join the run?
