Enjoying MG & Club Update September
Hi All,
Latest post for the Enjoying MG including Club Update
The end of September is the time when most classic car owners start putting their cars away for the winter, with only a few hardy souls braving the winter months. This is also the time of year when we put together our club
plans for the new year.
Thank you to everyone who sent me their helpful thoughts on how they’d like the club to continue to progress. There was a positive reaction to having a wider committee supporting Ian and myself in running the club, even a few volunteers! Roger Garnham, Ian and Yvonne Whipp and myself have had an initial meeting and are hoping to co-opt a few more members as well. If you’d like to be involved, please let us know.
Ideas included having a technical club member, maintaining a register of specialist tools, components and suppliers, supporting members projects. Having a buddy system for new members to help them to settle in quickly. Set up the calendar with provisional dates for the year so they can be put into diaries. There was a refreshing discussion about events with the calendar arranged to summarise Club Nights. Monthly Runs, Static Shows, MGOC Runs, International events as well as other events like Film Shows, Talks, Museum Visits etc. There was interest in weekday as well as weekend events, especially to National Trust or English Heritage sites. There was interest in
3-4 day tours to various parts of the country.
Roger G has agreed to start collating everyone’s ideas into our annual calendar.
So to finish off the year we have a group of people travelling to the NEC Classic Motor Show in November.
Our December Club Night will include our annual Christmas Dinner, and Martin Bilham has once again kindly agreed to arrange our New Years Day Cobweb Duster.
