2nd April Club Night
We had another good club night on 2 April with 26 people meeting at the Inn on the Lake. It was nice to welcome Alan Sayer back after his recent knee operation ? we wish him best wishes for his continued recovery. If Cliff is anything to go by, he?ll soon be dancing!
Ian Whipp showed off our new club banner – it looks great.?It’s?certain to?help us attract more attention to the club
In March we had the Wychwood Brewery tour as the Club Event. After a pleasant cross country run, we stopped at the Bell in Long Hanborough for lunch before arriving at the brewery. The tour was very interesting and the beer tasting very enjoyable. After buying some tempting bargains in the shop we all made our way home. It was an opportunity to show off the new club banner ? you will see the photo in the next Enjoying MG magazine.
We reviewed the club events for the rest of the year, see the updated club website for the latest updates.
In April the club is supporting the MK Classic Tour, organised by Mike Cornwell in support of the Little Lives charity. A number of us are acting as marshalls and helping in preparing the route. If anyone hasn?t booked yet, please contact Mike as places may be available. At the last count there were about 150 cars on the event, so if you can?t join, why not come along and watch the start from Frosts garden centre ? the display of classic cars is fantastic.
The Club Event on18th May is a run to the Heritage Motor Museum in Gaydon. If you haven?t been before, there is a marvellous collection of British classic cars on display. We are planning a cross country route of about 1.5 hours arriving there in time for lunch and allowing plenty of time for viewing the exhibits.?PLEASE E MAIL THE CLUB IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND. This will help greatly with organising the day.
We have a club stand at the Newton Longville festival of Transport on May 25th?? Ian Whipp is coordinating this on behalf of the club.
As requested I have added in Mid Month Pub runs for the summer. The first is on June 18th. The plan is to have a drive to a pub 20-30 miles from MK. They will be arranged up to a week in advance to make sure we have a reasonable weather forecast. Roger Garnham has volunteered to choose the first pub for us. A dozen MGs, parked at a country pub on a summer evening ? perfect!
Please note, I have brought the planned Hub & Spoke forward one week to 8th?June to prevent a clash with Fathers Day.
We also discussed a few other ideas for events:
- Attending the British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton on 2/3 August
- Attending the Brighton Speed Trials Saturday 6th?September
- New Forest Run 1st?June
