September Club Night Update

A quick follow up from Wednesdays Club Night at the Inn on the Lake.

We welcomed a new member – Daran Scarlett who was taking delivery of an Old English White MGA on Thursday morning. We all look forward to seeing the car at a future meeting.

August is a quiet month due to holidays, but 16 of us did have a great night at the Red Lion in Brafield for our Mid Month Run.

September 14th
Club Event will be a trip to Fly a Flight in Leighton Buzzard. Mark Lowen has now got the Spitfire up and running.
PLEASE NOTE THE TIMINGS HAVE CHANGED:
We will have to start arriving from 5pm, up to 6.30pm latest. (The site has to close at 7pm)
The cost is £20 per head.
Please contact me if you would like to join us – it will be a fun night out.

Other:
The Kop Hill Climb is on this month. 16/17 September. It was good fun last year and I strongly recommend it to you. Tickets are £10 in advance, £15 on the gate.

Some of us are attending the Autumn Gold Run on the 8th.

November
Wednesday 1st is CLub Night and AGM. Please come along and let us know what you would like to have in the calendar for 2018.
Is anyone interested in joining the committee and helping with the odd event? I am not sure I will be able to continue in 2018 without a lot more help.
10th to 12th is the NEC Classic Car show.

June Round Up

As always, it was good to see so many of you at the June club night. Lots of chat about the events you’re all planning for the summer months.
We had six cars attend the Classic Cars Night at Jacks Hill Cafe at Towcester. It was great fun and there was a great collection of interesting cars on display. Definitely worth a visit.
As always we get a number of cars attending the MG Live! event at Silverstone. I wasn’t able to go this year and look forward to hearing about it.
Malcolm and I went to Belgium to the Spa Summer Classic at the Spa Francorchamps Circuit. It was fantastic! High quality racing, fantastic cars, a friendly atmosphere and no corporate guff! Brilliant, we’ll certainly go again.
We have had members attend the New Forest Run and The Cotswold Caper. If you haven’t been to a run organised by an MGOC area why not try one – there’s still time to book.
Mike, Brian J, Alan and Terry are off on a cultural road trip to Normandy and Britanny.
We will have had our first Mid Month Pub Run in July to Brafield, organised by Mike Cornwell. Also we have at least thirteen cars booked for the Kimbolton Country Fayre, thanks to Steve Murphy for arranging this. Don’t forget the Silverstone Classic is looming – get your tickets
asap.

Hopefully the sun will return and we can get some more classic motoring soon.

June Club Night Update

A quick follow up from our June Club Night at the Inn on the Lake. As always, it was nice to see so many of you, despite the grey and wet weather.

May Review
The main event was our Pub Trawl Club Run held on the 14^th May. We had a fantastic entry of 25 people in 13 cars. We started at Poplars garden centre for teas/coffees/bacon sandwiches, then had a two hour navigating and driving event, before finishing at the Hare and Hounds at Old Warden. It was a good day out, with lots of positive feedback – thank you. Congratulations to the winners, Nigel and Maya.

• We had three cars attend the New Forest Run. Everyone enjoyed it, although the weather wasn’t great.

• As we have lots of new members, would anyone like to join the committee? I’ve been the club secretary for some years now and would appreciate any support.

They are only £10 per car. We will be all parked together in a single group. It is very important that you let me know if you are coming so I can get a ticket to you.

May Club Night Update

Hi everyone,

It was good to see so many of you at our May Club night – 25 people altogether. It was clear that everyone is looking forward to the prospect of warmer weather and the opportunity to use our cars. We also welcomed two more new members. Hedley Turner and Carl Silcock.

April was a busy month with the MK Classic Tour. We had eight members acting as marshalls this year. Mike thanks everyone who supported either as a marshall or as an entrant. Once again, it was a great success with well over £12,000 raised for the Little Lives Charity!

Andrew and Brian went on a road trip to the Isle of Man and to Donington. 25-30 April. It was a great trip, driving the TT course, watching Manx Classic Events, visiting the Manx Motor Museum and attending the Donington Historic on the way home. I highly recommend it.

COMING UP:

 May 14^th Club Event – Pub Trawl
This will be a fun day out for drivers and navigators. It’s a simple case of planning the most efficient route through the countryside, finding various objectives and then arriving at our planned finish point for lunch. All you need are simple navigating skills, safe drivers and a sense of humour.
In order to get us away from familiar roads the plan is to use the Hare and Hounds at Old Warden.
The Plan
10.30am          Meet at Poplars Garden Centre for teas coffees
10.30am          Receive instructions. Plan route.
11.00am          Depart
1.00pm            Arrive at hare & Hounds for lunch

5th April Club Night Review

A big thank you for a terrific turn out on the night and a big welcome to Glenn & Sharon, Des and Steve, all have now been included in our circulation list and have been given club web IDs.

Andrew has a FREE spare ticket for Saturday 29th for the Donnington Historic Festival with 10 races on the day, if your interested in attending please contact us and we will supply the information and put you in contact with him.

Fun Run on Sunday 14th May, this was passed around on the night and Brian would like names for this rule so he can organise the meals etc, please let us know if your coming the more the better. It will be a very good day out and sunshine is guaranteed!!

As explained, I have the parts that were offered to us by a member who has sold all his cars. If you see any thing send me an e-mail and I will see if its available. Also Terry said he has numerous MG parts after tidying his garage all these parts are free of charge.

Don’t forget its Alison and Mike’s MK Classic this Sunday, all Marshall’s have been given their packs, but if you still wish to attend, especially our new members please drop us a line ASAP, a copy of the events material is on the clubs web page.

The two runs in June, the New Forest Run 4th June and Cotswold Caper 25th June which three members are attending, the details follow as requested.

• This year the run will on 25^th June 2017. To find out more about the run you can see our web page at http://www.glosmgoc.co.uk/caper.htm where you can also download our entry form.
• The run takes in approximately 85 miles of beautiful countryside, wildlife and peace and quiet, finishing this year at the South Lawns Hotel, Lymington Road, Milford on Sea.  SO41  0RF.    At the finish, we will have the use of the function room at the hotel and for a fee of £5 per person, booked at time of entry, the opportunity to have a cream tea.Arrive any time from 9.00am – all cars away by 11.00 please!
