The event diary is a template for 2024 and will change at club nights as new events are discussed and planned.
Wednesday the 6th we had our annual Christmas Dinner, this time at the Dolphin in Stoke Hammond, 28 members attended. The pub, food and of course the company was great.
A big thank you to Yvonne who organised the night.
Enjoying MG:
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to another successful, busy and enjoyable year for the club, in particular Yvonne, Martin and Jackie.
I’d also like to thank all members for helping to make the club friendly, welcoming and active, with a variety of activities to cover a wide range of classic car interests.
We had our AGM at the beginning of the November. – Key points as follows:
Brian and Ian will continue as club secretary and treasurer. Club finances are under good control. Membership to be reduced to £10 pa.
We will continue using the Inn on the Lake for club nights. I would like to thank Ian for his work as treasurer – it is much appreciated.
We have got 28 people attending our Christmas Dinner on the 6th December at the Dolphin in Stoke Hammond. Our popular New Years Day Cobweb Duster will start at the Inn on the Lake with lunch booked at the Green Man in Lavendon for 1pm. Members are also attending Vintage Stony and the Bicester Scramble.
Plans for the rest of 2024 are already starting to develop. Including the Snowdrop Run, MK Classic Tour, Charnwood Caper, Rose of the Shires, Jorvik Run, Moor2Sea, New Forest Run, Ratae Run, Cotswold Caper, Silverstone Festival, Tri Counties for Trisomy, South Downs Run.
We will continue our summer Mid Moth Runs too. Members are also booked to go to Spa. By the time
you read this, Christmas will be upon us, so we wish you a Merry Christmas
and a happy and healthy New Year.
It’s the end of October and I’m looking forward to seeing you at our Club Night and AGM on Wednesday 1st November. It’s been a busy year with club members attending a widening range of events.
In the last month we’ve had the “MK Classic Tour – Last of the Summer Tour” and the Sunday Run Out to the Thatched Inn at Adstock (with thanks to Yvonne).
The busy year continues with our Club Christmas Dinner (at a new venue). We have the Cobweb Duster on New Years Day, the Vintage Stony Stratford event and bookings made for the January Bicester Scramble.
The AGM your chance to give us your thoughts on how you’d like the club to develop over the coming year.
Th club seems to be in good health. Ian & I have been running the club for 10 years and regularly attract around 20 people on average per club night. We are grateful for the support we have received this year but are happy to have someone take over the running of the club or join us. Just ask.
Our plan is to continue to run the club as now: as an open and welcoming club with variety of activities to get peoples interested.
We have settled in to THREE steady Streams 1. Social (Mid Month Runs, Club Nights etc). 2.Tours and
Shows and 3. International and Motorsport.

Text for Enjoying MG:
It’s the end of September already! This year seems to be racing by. It has
been very active for the club and hopefully it’ll continue through October
and before some of you pack your cars away for the winter. I’ve only just
returned from touring in France and so I haven’t had time to phone around
and see what you’ve all been up to. So, firstly – thanks to everyone who
gave me advice on places to visit, routes to take whilst in France. We
managed to take up most of your excellent suggestions.
I’m just preparing the MGB for the Last of the Summer Tour starting at
Woburn and finishing at Broughton Castle with a tour and cream tea –
perfect! I know Mike and Terry have prepared another excellent route for us
all to enjoy.
Our October club night is in 3 days time and I hope to see you there. We need
to discuss our winter programme, including where to have our Xmas dinner –
your suggestions will be helpful. Members are attending the Bicester Scramble
on the 8th – always fun. There is the MGOC 50th anniversary event / run at
Swavesey that looks interesting on the 14th October. Then we’re into our
regular autumn schedule, including our November AGM and December Christmas
Dinner. Cheers
July and August have been very active months for the club. Dave and Sue completed the spectacular NC500 in their TF – highly recommended.
Members attended the Cotswold Caper, Kimbolton Country Fair and the Surrey Run. Ian and Yvonne had a great trip to the Isle of Man. I enjoyed the historic racing at the Oulton Park Gold Cup. Andrew attended the Aylesbury Pride of Ownership.
Congratulations and thanks go to Jackie and Martin for the Tri Counties for Trisomy Classic Car Run. It was organised memory of Ben. Starting with a beautiful 50 mile scenic tour, then a BBQ in Martin and Jackies garden – what a great day! The Just Giving page is still open if you’d like to make a donation. www.justgiving.com/page/abi-billham-1689854080870
We had sixteen people attending the August mid month run to the George pub in Maulden – the pub did a good job as usual. September will probably be our last mid month run of the year.
Coming up: August 25 to 28 Silverstone festival. South Downs Run in Sussex Sept 23rd, MG 100 Not Out at Abingdon, Oakley Classic Car Night Sept 12th, Kop Hill Climb, October 1st will be the Last of the Summer Tour starting at Woburn and finishing at Broughton Castle with a tour and cream tea –
perfect!
2nd August
