Mid Week Run To Thrupp Wharf, Cosgrove
First we had some very sad news, Andrew was due to come on the run but his mother died suddenly that morning, our condolences go to him and his family on this sad time
Well folks our first mid week run of the year was on Wednesday 20th and what a great day it was.
The warm weather appears to have made everyone think of food and evenings out. I tried a number of hostelries for our run but all were booked, panic!!!!!
Success, we managed to book The Navigation Inn at Thrupp Wharf, Cosgrove, for initially for eight diners, but Mark and his son Chris turned up and the pub reoganised and managed to fit then in, thanks to the staff. It turned out to be a fantastic venue and we shall certainly visit again, Denise my daughter has already planned a visit with her husband Scott.
Roger, Martin & Jackie, Dave & Sue (our new members elect), Mark & Chris, Yvonne Denise (on crutches) and I met at The Inn on the Lake for a 7 pm start. All MG’s looked pristine except for my MG/Citroen!! As I had two passengers and you cannot squeeze three into a roadster and with Yvonne’s TF off the road I didn’t have much choice.
Our run was 30 miles covering Soulbury, Mursley, Gt Horwood, Nash and Stoney Stratford, a pleasant jaunt through the lanes.
We arrived just gone 8 pm and then got a glass of lemonade, prior to our meal. The pub has recently been refurbished, since our previous visit. It was very busy, with people enjoying a drink a meal and the glorious weather.
We all enjoyed our meals which were excellent, a Mediterranean-influenced menu, from handmade pizzas to pasta, fish, lamb burgers, steaks, etc, an excellent selection.
After we had all eaten, nattered and put the world to rights, we were surprised to find it was nearly 11 pm, what the heck there’s always next month.
