Club Update November
In October we were delighted to welcome Willy Cave, the famous rally
navigator, to talk about his life in the navigator?s seat. His?extraordinary life story covered exploits in an MG 18/80, rallying since the?50?s, Jack Brabham, Mike Hawthorne, Paddy Hopkirk, flying a Spitfire and?fast jets and finishing the Monte Carlo Rally in a London Taxi! It is a story?that would make a wonderful book ? I do hope he writes it. He is a true?gentleman.
We had a great time on our mid month run to the Towcester Brewing Company.?The tap room felt like a proper pub – good beer, in pleasant surroundings and?the chance to chat with your mates. We?ll certainly go again.
Sadly for us, David Simons will be moving out of the area. He was a great?Area Secretary for many years, making new members feel welcome to this?friendly club. Thank you David for your big smile, generosity and kindness?? we?ll miss you.
NEW EVENT – Shake off that hangover with an MG run on New Year?s Day. Mark?has kindly arranged for us to start at Red Bull Racing at around 10.00am.?More details to follow see Events tab….but get it in your diary now.
At the AGM in November, we welcomed Martin and Jackie ?to the club and hope to see them at events throughout the year, also an outline events plan was presented.
?The ideas for 2015 include, Weekenders to Jersey,?Norfolk and Somerset; International Runs to the Nurburgring or Spa; Classic?Car rallies, as well as a broad range of tours to Breweries, Museums and?Motor Racing. The summer mid month runs have proved a great success this?year, encouraging the involvement of partners by driving to country pubs on?warm summer evenings. Hopefully, we can make 2015 another active year for the?club.
