It was good to catch up with so many of you at the club night.

Last Month:
We had seven cars attend the final Jacks Hill Cafe Classic Car Night of the year. It was a good evening with some really interesting cars, plus bacon sandwiches! What more could you ask for?
The Bicester Scramble was on the 8th October – a great event.
Coming Up
November 7th – Club Night at the Inn on the Lake PLUS SPECIAL EVENT
A talk by Roy Smith who is coming to talk to us about the Racing Alpines. Roy has a breadth of knowledge about motor sport and has written a number of books, including racing Porsche’s. It promises to be a very entertaining evening.
We will aim to start a little earlier, at 8.00pm
November 9-11th. NEC Classic Car Show.
We have quite a few members attending. Remember to buy you tickets in advance. Let us know which day you’re going and we can arrange to meet up at lunchtime.

AGM – We need to have an AGM. Does anyone want to be Club Secretary, Treasurer, or any other role? Please let us know. Also, please think about suggestions for events for 2019
We also have potential club runs to Daventry to do slot car racing and also to Allders Air Rifle range. More to follow.

September Club Night Natter
Thanks to everyone who came along to club night on Wednesday, it was good to see you all.
We welcomed a new member, Andy Howell who has just bought a very nice, blue 1969 MGB GT. As a former owner of a white MGA, he is someone who knows the marque well.
We covered some of the runs over August which included the mid minth run to the Red Lion at Brafield in the Green.
Ian gave a brief over view of the WAMGOC Octagonal run which Martin, Jackie, Geoff & Liz also attended, a good run that went to Broughton Castle. I and Yvonne also did the South Downs run on Sunday 2nd Sept, a very well organised and excellent prepared route, finishing on the green in Eastbourne. Will try and do next years, which is their 30th.

Thursday 13th September – MID MONTH PUB RUN
Does anyone want to join us for our final summer Mid Month Run? If we get enough interest, I’ll get something arranged SO – E MAIL ME URGENTLY if you want to come along.
Timings:

– Set off at 19.00 across country to a nice pub for dinner
Friday September 14th CLASSIC CAR NIGHT AT JACKS HILL CAFE
A number of us are heading up the A5 to a fun evening of unusual classics

POSSIBLE EVENTS IN OCTOBER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU’RE INTERESTED:
1. A run to the BRITISH MOTOR MUSEUM at Gaydon.
The museum has had a major redesign since our last visit
2. An evening run to ALDERS FARM GUN RANGE.
This has recently opened on Ivy Lane at Great Brickhill and could be a good evening out. We could follow up with an evening meal at the Red Lion.

Mike Cornwell has arranged for a speaker called Roy Smith to give us a talk at our monthly meeting on the 7th. He is a highly respected author who has written a number of motoring books on Porsche racing cars, the racing Renault Alpines and the legendary Gordini. It should be a very entertaining evening. There will also be a raffle for one of his books. MAKE SURE YOU GET IT IN YOUR DIARIES NOW.

August Club Review
We had a great turnout at the August club night, usually one of the quietest of the year. The mid month run up to the Red Lion at Brafield in the Green was a great success, everyone enjoying the chance to catch up.
It was nice to see Mark Thomasons lovely old MG out for an outing.
Martin has sold his MGB GT to someone who flew in from Austria to buy it, he’s now down to just two classics in his garage now.
IMPORTANT NEWS! Mike Cornwell has arranged for us to have a speaker, called Roy Smith who is coming to talk
to us at the NOVEMBER club night. Roy has wealth if knowledge about the racing Renaults, particularly the Alpine and the great Gordini . It should be entertaining night. Please get it in your diaries NOW. If any other
local clubs would like to come along, you’d be very welcome, just let us know.
We’ll have another mid month run as they seem to be popular again. Let us know of any good pubs to try.
A group will be heading up to the NEC in November to the Classic Car Show, do try and come along, it’s a great event. We’ll try and get a run up to Gaydon before the end of the summer weather.
Mid Week Runout 19th July
We have a planned mid week cross country run on the 19th July to a Pub near Wendover, we request if your interested to contact Ian or Brian.
We will give start times and location when numbers are confirmed, a meal will be available but not obligatory so please let us know
July 4th Club Night Update
July’s club night was expected to be a quiet affair as we have a large contingent, including Brian heading to France for the Le Mans Classic.
On arriving there were two new cars in the car park, a Midget 1500 in Blue and a 57 Magnet, they belonged to Paul from Bletchley and Godfrey and his wife Sandra and grandson Ryan from Castlethorpe.
In all we had around 18 members and as it was a warm evening we decided to hold the meeting outside, although we did have a few bites as the evening went on.
After welcoming all and having a general chat, we covered the events we had attended recently, the London to Brighton run by Geoff & Liz and the Cotswold Caper attended by Martin & Jackie & Yvonne & I. Both these events were well run and all who went gave an over view of the runs.
Martin covered the Kimbolton and asked if there were any more people interested but no more were forthcoming although Stephen said he knew two MG owners in his village who might be interested. All those going were given entry wrist bands, with the exception of Nigel who was not present. Martin will take the club banner and welcome those as the arrive.
We also covered the mid week cross country run on the 19th July to a Pub near Wendover, requests for those interested will be sent out for those interested.

June Club Night Update
Thank you to everyone who came along to our club night this month. We had a great turnout, despite having six members on a trip to the Isle of Wight.
COMING UP….
4th July Our next club night at the Inn on the Lake.
6th -10th July We have a large contingent heading to France for the Le Mans Classic.
8th July Kimbolton Country Fayre.
This is a great car show held in the grounds of Kimbolton School. I strongly recommend it. Martin Bilham has managed to get hold of up to twenty wristbands and parking at the event. Please note there is an entrance fee required.
ACTION REQUIRED: Please let me know as urgently if you’d like to attend.

We have had requests to go to Duxford and to the British Heritage Motoring Museum.

June Run to New Forest and IoW
On the 3rd June club members Jackie & Martin, Sue & Dave, Yvonne & I attended the 20th Anniversary New Forest run and met up with friends Ashley and Nick from Torquay the previous year. The run and weather was great and the number of new foals lovely. Sue & Dave won one of the main prizes a selection of beers, plus a clock and wine. Yvonne and Jackie also won prizes, so I expect we will be barred next year.
On Monday we all caught the ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth on the IoW and then on to Bembridge for a few days at Warner’s. The venue, food, entertainment, facilities and accommodation was excellent and would recommend this way of visiting the island to any member.
The IoW club gave us a route around the island and suggestions for places of interest and food stops. We did the usual things, such as Alum Bay and a boat ride to the Needles and glass factory, then on the Thursday we visited Osborne House and its gardens.
The only problem we had was my car, we had just viewed Culver Down a viewing point and crossed a number of cattle grids, then on the way to the Garlic Farm trouble struck! On climbing Bully Hill a steep climb with a sharp bend half way up, the motor stopped, I could not roll downhill because of traffic and was in a dodgy position. A kind “man in a van” stopped and towed me up hill to the car park, where I discovered the petrol pump had vibrated out of its clamp and a spade clip had come of the pump. Martin arrived and we re-connected the connection and pump into the clamp, sorted!! The trip home went well with all arriving safely with no more issues.

May Events & Pictures
In May some the club members enjoyed a few MG club events and our Pub Hunt on the 27th.
The Kimber Run on the 13th gave a great run from RAF Cosford around Shropshire, really good route and views and the museum very interesting.
The 20th was the Rose of the Shires, a 70 mile run starting from Old Grammarians Memorial Sports Field, Wellingborough finishing at Royal Ordnance Depot, Weedon.
Then on the 27th we had our clubs annual Pub Trawl, starting at Harrold Country Park coffee shop and taking various routes to finish at the Wheatsheaf, Perry. A great time was had by all who participated, with great food at the pub.
April – MK Classic & Picture
In April we had Mike and Alisions MK Classic, another fantastic event that raised over £8k for Little Lives Appeal for MK Hospital. After the start from Poplars garden centre and Millbrook, a visit to Holdenby House and a finish at BRDC Silverstone saw another successful event.
