Wycombe Area MGOC Octagonal Run Sunday 14th August 2022
Octagonal Run Sunday 14th August 2022
Yvonne and I did the run on Sunday 14th August, which was the second one we have done with the club.
The start was at the Hearing Dogs for the Deaf in Saunderton near Princes Risbourgh, which was a very good venue and a pleasant surprise as it is not one we knew of.
After breakfast, which included a full English to bacon or sausage rolls and chats with club members, organiser David Lloyd and a couple in a left hand drive Midget from Norway, complete with a Norwegian flag attached to the side window – it was Jon & Eleanor Karlsen’s , first rally and were taking the car back to Norway at the end of the week.
We set off on the first leg, a 54 mile run to the half way stop at Basingstoke, Jon & Eleanor ended up following for a while but we lost them only to learn their exhaust came loose after experiencing road humps and had to wire it up.
It made a nice change to cover this area as it’s not one we do. We went through Wallingford, Moulsford, Pangbourne, Upper Basildon, Benson and Theale a good flowing route. The half way stop, was the Milestones Museum, a good venue with food and interesting displays.
The route back covered 43 miles to The Gate pub in Bryants Bottom for a natter and BBQ.
Everyone was very friendly and made us welcome, the route map was excellent, accurate, with good graphics and not too wordy.
We thanked the club for a good run and enjoyable day.
