EMG January

I’m writing this at the end of November for the January Magazine, so it’s a good point to summarise the year and highlight some key points. It has been another busy year for MK MGOC Members with a wide range of activities and events attended – MGOC tours / Le Mans Classic / Laon Historique / Charity 
Runs for Little Lives and Abigail’s Footsteps etc.
Brian and Ian are keeping the club ticking over, with support from Yvonne, however any help would be appreciated – why not plan a simple weekend run to a pub for lunch? Club finances are healthy. Club Subs are being kept at £10 p.a. – less than £1 per month.
The Inn on the Lake will remain as our meeting venue. We agreed to cancel the website when it comes up for renewal in 2026. It gets little traffic, is challenging to maintain and costly.
We have 26 people booked for Christmas Dinner 3rd December at the Crooked Billet in Newton Longville.
New Years Day – the Cobweb Duster is going ahead, to the Green Man at Lavendon.
Ian and Yvonne have been on an MGOC Xmas event at Alveston Manor Hotel, Stratford Upon Avon, as well as a trip to the Hook Norton Brewery – a possible run  out for the Club in the Spring, perhaps?

Autumn has finally arrived!
There was a good turnout for the MK Classic Tour – Last of the Summer Run. 
My flat tyre seems to have been caused by a pot-hole breaking a spoke – a 
costly incident!
Coming up we have the following

It was agreed that our Christmas Dinner will be held at the Crooked Billet in 
Newton Longville.

Club Night & Abigail’s Footstep’s Run

Good day all, a quick update on our club night and a possible mid month run-out to The Navigation Inn at Castlethorpe as well as Jackie & Martins new Charity Run for Abigail’s Footsteps charity.
Can I at this point stress we would like a good and timely response to both items, especially Abigail’s, a reply to me and Jackie (included) please
We had a small group of 9 attend the meeting with a number in Le Mans for the classic and others on leave. Jackie gave a detailed run down on her Abigail’s charity and how she and Martin would provide food and drinks at the end of the run. (see attached rally board and briefing notes) from Jackie.
A discussion on a mid month run was covered and the Navigation Inn was proposed again for either Wednesday the 16th or 23rd, Yvonne will arrange.

Jackie & Martin’s charity Run on 17th August – Starting at The Inn on the Lake for a 1pm departure.
The run should take about 2 hours and finish in time for afternoon refreshments.
The run is 49.3 miles all around the South Bedfordshire countryside, which has some really lovely scenery and undulating roads to drive on.
Members will be given a Rally Board and a nicely printed and bound Tulip Map for the journey, Martin and I are providing the food and drinks at the end.
ALL of the proceeds are going to the Charity, Abigail’s Footsteps, those who donate will be sent an email of thanks, we aim to provide a Cooling Cot if possible.
Jackie, requires confirmation of who is coming as soon as possible to arrange the food and for the rally boards to be printed.
The cost is £30 per car and at present there is no limit so a non member would be accepted.

A bit about the Charity.
We are a baby loss charity, our aim is to improve the care given around stillbirth and neonatal bereavement. With one in every 200 babies being stillborn (around 14 stillborn and neonatal deaths per day in the UK), Britains figures are among the worst in the developed world.
We provide care and support to families who have suffered a bereavement, as well as education for healthcare professionals directly involved with caring for bereaved parents. Our fundraising pays for specialist midwifery bereavement training courses and the provision of Abi cooling cots to maternity units, to allow parents to spend additional time with their baby. 
We also work with hospitals to advise on the sensitive layout and creation of bereavements suites that provides parents privacy and locates them away from maternity wards. 
This year we have also seen the launch of our specialist baby loss counselling programme which funds sessions to help bereaved families once they’ve returned home.

Club Night 5th March & Report for April EMG

Our Club night on the 5th March saw a good turn out of 19 members, attending for a good natter, discussion on future event and runs that have already been booked.

Mid month runs are planned when the weather improves to a suitable pub and members were asked for suggestions, so we can plan ahead.
Dave & Sue did the MGOC run to Barnstable in North Devon and enjoyed it but was a bit cold in the mornings. They are also doing the MGOC run to Ireland in late April.

April will see our Mike & Alison’s, MK Classic Tour from Poplars Garden Centre to Silverstone Golf Club as reported last month, with a number of club members acting as marshals. Monies raised go as usual to Little Lives and the NeoNatal unit of Milton Keynes Hospital.

Any good for next months ‘Enjoying MG’ January

Good evening,
Hope this is of some use ;
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year;   We started 2025 with our usual “ Cobweb Duster” Run to the Green Man Lavendon Beds for a 1pm meet. It was a very wet & windy morning with a majority of us using our everyday cars. The turnout was terrific, 25 in all,  and a very enjoyable few hours  was had by all. Our other local show on the 1st January, The Stoney Stratford Vintage Show was cancelled at the last minute due to the adverse weather.
Our Christmas Dinner on 4th December at the Crooked Billet NL was very well attended 30 sitting down to eat , our thanks go to Nessa , Paul & Staff for a lovely meal.
Our first club night for 2025 is on 5th February 7.30pm at Inn on the Lake  when we hope to make plans for forthcoming events. We have had a few suggestions, more welcome please.
