CLUB NIGHT & AGM FOLLOW UP – NOVEMBER 2024

Brian and Ian have been running the Club now for 11 years and we regularly attract around 20 people to club nights, mid month runs and other events.
We had 20 members attend the Club Night & AGM on November 6^th

The Club has settled into three main streams:
– Social /Mid-Month Runs / Club Nights.
– Tours and Shows.
– International and Motorsport

CLUB OFFICERS
Brian and Ian have been running the Club now for 11 years.
We are grateful to the support of Yvonne Whipp, Martin & Jackie Billham.
Brian would particularly like to thank Ian Whipp who does an incredible job as Club Treasurer.
Brian would like to step down from the Club Secretary role in January 2025.

AUDIT SUMMARY
Covering period Nov 23 to Nov 24 (although club membership year runs January to December.
Since Brian and Ian took over the running of the club, with some members still attending since prior to 2008.
Paid up membership runs at a steady 20.
Club funds have recovered successfully from the covid pandemic.
Opening balance 2023 was £535; 04
Income was £381.10 (subs/regalia payments)
Expenditure £ £419.37 (website / regalia /stationery / gifts)
Closing balance November £ 496.77.
It was agreed that membership will remain at £10.00 for 2025

It was agreed to continue using the Inn on the Lake, but all meetings will start at the earlier time of 7.30pm.

– Club Christmas Dinner at the Crooked Billet in Newton Longville.

– New Year’s Day Cobweb Duster. Our annual New Year’s Day run to the Green Man at Lavendon, an opportunity to have a relaxing chat with friends.

CLUB NIGHT FOLLOW UP – OCTOBER 2024

A quick update on our club night at the Inn on the Lake on Wednesday 2^nd October
It was good to see so many of you. Some were touring the North east, some had covid and some were watching Aston Villa beat Bayern!
It’s proving challenging to find an alternative to the Inn on the Lake for our club nights, so for the time being we’ll continue to meet there, but future meetings will start at 7.30pm (as opposed to 8pm)
RECENT EVENTS
MK Last of the Summer Tour – in aid of Little Lives – was enjoyed by all, although the rain was challenging! Well done to Mike and Terry for arranging such a good event – ending at a vineyard was a master-stroke!
Mid Month Run to the Crooked Billet. The feedback has been very positive, a good meal and good service. Many thanks to Yvonne for arranging the evening.
COMING UP
9^th October   “For Our Tomorrows”-I have sent out an email from Chris Cockram and the MGB Register regarding the event at Stowe Gardens. 1475 silhouettes from Dunkirk are on display. Free tickets are available – refer to earlier email.
23^rd October   There was a request to continue the Mid Month Runs throughout the winter. No need to bring an MG. The Bull at Olney has been suggested as a destination.

1^st January    – NEW YEARS DAY COBWEB DUSTER -Always a popular start to the Year
Setting off from the Inn on the Lake with a pleasant cross country run to the Green Man at Lavendon. We always have a good welcome. Thanks to Martin for arranging this.
27^th April        MK Classic Tour – Once again, this marvellous event is being run in aid of “Little Lives” at MK Hospital. It’s a brilliant tout – get it in you diary now!
1^st June          New Forest Run – 25^th Anniversary Event
7 -9^th June     Laon Historique – Our first International Event of the Year
3-6th July – Le Mans Classic -Always excellent.
August           Afternoon Tea in aid of Abigails Footsteps.- Organised by Martin and Jackie, an important charity to support.

CLUB NIGHT FOLLOW UP – SEPTEMBER 2024

Despite many regulars being on holiday we still had a good turnout at the Inn on the Lake. It was good to see some new faces too. So, welcome to Lee who has an MGTF (friend of George) and to Nick (friend of Roger, who has bought yet another Jag!).
August has continued to be busy with members attending a range of events, including the South Downs Run in Sussex.
Regalia – Ian brought along a range of garments from our new supplier. (Polo Shirt, Waterproof coat, Hoody, T Shirt) They look excellent (well done Ian!). Please email us if you’re interested – a catalogue is available.
We need to discuss and agree on the Venue for future Club Nights. We have been at the Inn on the Lake for many years now and it has proven to be a good location for us as a club. Unfortunately, the pub is closing earlier and earlier, with last orders called at 8.45pm last night, so we need to consider our options.
So, please let us have any proposals that meet the following criteria:
– ideally located in Milton Keynes
– Adequate parking
– enough space for us to have a social chat
– ideally a separate space for our club discussion
Suggestions so far include
– The old Beams at Shenley Lodge
– The Crooked Billet at Newton Longville
– The Warbler (probably too busy)

– An opportunity to review the year and make sure the club is meeting the needs of its members.
– Set and Outline plan for 2025 events.
– Agree on the venue for Club Nights.
– Review the club finances and agree annual subs.
– Appoint the club officers. PLEASE NOTE, Brian intends to stand down as Area Secretary.
8^th to 10^th NEC Classic Car Show. This is always a good event and a great way to round off the Classic Car Year. Tickets are available in advance with a £4 discount.

DECEMBER 4^th Club Night and Christmas Dinner. The proposal is to use the Crooked Billet in Newton Longville. We will send round the menu shortly with more details. So far we have 28 people indicating they’d like to come along.

7-9^th June Circuit Historique de Laon.
We have a group attend this year. Always an excellent event

2-6th July Le Mans Classic.
We have a sizeable contingent attending – it’s Le Mans, after all!

Enjoying MG August

Enjoying MG:
Hello folks, it was nice to see so many of you at the August Club Night.
Unfortunately the Inn on the Lake seems to be closing earlier and earlier, disappointingly, last orders were at 8.45pm,  so we should really be starting the search for a new location for our club night – never an easy task.
As a Milton Keynes Club I strongly believe we need to have a venue within MK itself, so that we can continue to attract new members from MK and its surroundings. Ideally, we need a decent pub with ample parking, with space for us to meet and have a natter. So, if you have any proposals, please let
us know.
I’m writing this at the end of August, but we’ve already had a proposal for our Christmas Dinner venue – the Crooked Billet in Newton Longville. It is apparently under new ownership and they’re very keen to get us to attend. We’ll try and get hold of a menu for the next club night. Alternative ideas are welcome.
Hopefully, the weather will remain fine for the summer events still in the pipeline. We also have members attending the Classic Car Show at the NEC in November, always a good event. We also have the November AGM, to discuss proposals for 2025. Plans are starting for members to attend the Laon
Historique, in France as well as the summer Le Mans Classic, as well as a host of UK summer tours.

Club Night 3^rd July 2024 – Follow Up

We had 22 members attend our club night at the Inn on the Lake. It was good to see so many of you.

It’s been a busy couple of months with members attending national and international events, including: Laon, Spa Classic, Jorvik Run, Rose of the Shires, Charnwood Caper, New Forest Run, Ratae Run. We had an enjoyable July Mid Month Run to the Green Man at Brackley Heath.

In July we have members attending the Cotswold Caper, Woburn Park Classic Car Show, Kimbolton Fayre.

ACTION REQUIRED: MID MONTH RUN 18^th July. We are planning a run up to the Navigation Inn at Cosgrove. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND, so that we can book a table.

It was great to meet two new members, Ian and his son, Jack – with a pair of white MGB GTs (one being Jacks first car – excellent!). It was also good to see George Hunt and his MGF.
