Clubs May Overview
My (Brian) MGB roadster and Rogers MGB GT kept each other company at the local bodyshop, where they were tarted up, ready for the spring. Malcolm, Roger and I went to the Laon Historique in France. For some reason, Rogers MG had the word “Jaguar” written on the front. The event was well organised with a stop at Arras before arriving at Laon and two more days of motoring. The French people of the area made us all very welcome.
We continued with our first Pub Trawl, a navigation and driving event requiring simple navigating skills, safe drivers and a sense of humour. We all met at a very busy Super Sausage to get our instructions before setting off.
As always, we ended up in a pub. Well done to Tony and Christine for winning.
During the month various members went to the Alyesbury Clubs 30th Anniversary run to Stowe House and the Rose of the Shires, Martin & Jackies BGT had some issues so an MG/Audi was substituted.
In June we have a different event to that planned – a trip to Broughton Castle. Lovely roads, a nice pub for lunch and a beautiful English castle., also some members are attending the New Forest Run on the 5th June.
We’ve had some technical issues with the website, so thanks to Ian Forrow for sorting it out.
We do need to have a discussion about the future of the website and its associated costs. I’ll raise it at the next club night.
In July we have a large party heading off to Le Mans for the biannual Classic. We’re all looking forward to the sight and sound of those beautiful old cars hurtling down the Mulsanne Straight. Also some members are attending the Cotswold Caper run on the 3rd of July.
Our summer mid month pub dinners run from July to September. Why not suggest a favourite country pub for us all to visit. The Goodwood Revival beckons in September. I hope you all get the chance to enjoy your cars through the
Spring.
